Pope Zeigler has helped many clients negotiate long-term contracts to buy or sell bulk water and sewer services, wholesale gas and electric service, bulk solid-waste service and other important governmental services. The terms of these contracts can be critically important to the public utility systems involved, including their ability to finance future improvements. Pope Zeigler also has assisted in resolving rate disputes, in negotiating capacity expansions projects and in handling other sensitive matters and have helped government entities acquire public and private utility systems. Pope Zeigler also has assisted in setting up regional joint agencies through which multiple governmental entities provide utility services on a regional basis. Our lawyers have successfully negotiated resolutions to disputes under these agreements and have advised in amending the service agreements through which these joint agencies function.
